The mission Simulated

Collect supplier invoices, match them to purchase orders, and prepare an exception report.

        What is a MissionFlow?

The outcome is fixed. The path is found.

A workflow is a list of steps. A MissionFlow is a goal with boundaries: what must be true at the end, what may be used to get there, and how the result is checked. Excapia plans the work, runs it, adapts when something changes and only reports success after the outcome is verified.

        1. GoalThe outcome, stated so it can be checked. Here: every supplier invoice matched or flagged, in one report.
        2. ConstraintsPermissions, budget, deadline and approvals. They decide which paths are allowed at all.
        3. ExecutionAgents and tools do the work in parallel, each within the access it was given.
        4. AdaptationWhen a route fails, the supervisor picks a permitted alternative, or stops and asks.
        5. VerificationAn independent check decides whether the outcome really happened.

        Follow one mission

Six invoices, two sources, one exception report.

Accounts Payable needs this week’s supplier invoices checked against purchase orders. Three suppliers publish invoices on a portal, three send them to an authorized inbox. The finance team wants the exceptions, not the busywork.

In the simulation above, the portal fails halfway. The supervisor does not start over: two invoices are already collected and stay collected. It switches the third to the Invoice API, which the mission is permitted to use, and hands it to the agent that holds API access. The report is only marked verified after its totals are checked.

        1. CollectorCollects invoices from the supplier portal and the authorized inbox.
        2. Reconciliation agentMatches each invoice to its purchase order. Holds Invoice API access.
        3. Verification agentValidates the documents, compiles the exception report and verifies it.
        4. OutcomeFour invoices matched, two exceptions explained: a 4.2% price variance and an invoice with no purchase order. Fictional suppliers, sample documents.

        Coordination and recovery

Adapt within the rules. Never around them.

        Handoffs

Unfinished work moves to an available agent that has the required access. A task is taken over once; nothing is processed twice.

        Checkpoints

Completed steps stay completed. A failure costs the step in progress, not the mission so far.

        Approvals

Some actions wait for a person: a route change, an email to a supplier, the release of a report. Approve or reject; both are recorded.

        Permitted alternatives

Routes are chosen by explicit rules: available, permitted, affordable, on time. If none qualifies, the mission pauses and says what is missing.

        Real Excapia screens

        The MissionFlow Designer.

The simulation above is illustrative. This is the product: a mission contract with its desired outcome, success criteria, allowed and forbidden actions, a primary path, fallbacks and an independent verification step. Sample data, no customer information.

Excapia MissionFlow Designer showing the mission 'Deliver the daily settlement file to the partner': a primary path over the SFTP gateway, fallbacks through the partner API and a maintenance-window drop, an independent verification step and the verified outcome, with the mission contract panel listing the desired outcome, three required success criteria and the allowed and forbidden actions.

        Connected control and visibility

Excapia runs the mission. Connected products add control and insight.

Each role below belongs to one product. Imperium and Observatory capabilities apply only when that product is deployed and connected to Excapia; they are not part of Excapia on its own.
